JOSHUA BELL'S SUPERB, EXTRAORDINARILY PERSONAL "FOUR SEASONS"
Five BIG Stars!! Grammy-winning violin virtuoso Joshua Bell, one of the greatest on the planet, steps into the baroque world and delivers an unusually personal, superb version of Antonio Vivaldi's "Four Seasons". This is an oft-recorded work (in the past year alone I've purchased a wonderful version by violinist Viktoria Mullova/Claudio Abbado and enjoyed a very nice transcribed slice of "Winter" ...

Great Performance... lovely voice....magical concert
I try to avoid watching concerts for the fear of being distracted from the music by lights, fashion, and fake dramatics. Watching Bocelli's concert definitely changed my mind about television viewing of concerts. It's hard to select the best song, but the great performance of "CANTO DELLA TERRA" with Sarah Brightman, "VIVERE" with Laura Pausini and "LA VOCE DEL SILENZIO" with Elisa surely ...

This product was recommended to me by my cousin. It has been well worth the $15-and then some. My son loves it-and has loved it since he was 3 months old. He's now 11 months and will still sit & watch it. I actually enjoy watching it myself-it's very intriguing. The music is wonderful-so peppy and spirited. This is our favorite Baby Einstein dvd. I have purchased several as shower gifts ...

The best conductor since Leonard Bernstein
The person who rated this CD as a 1 star, should be ashame of himself. Is the most absurd comment I'd ever heard. And I feel is my duty to report to the public that this opinion is absolutely WRONG. Gustavo Dudamel is simply the hottest thing to hit classical music since Leonard Bernstein. But in the world of music, why talk? Better to look, and listen. Obviously, this reviewer is in desperate ...

A Chris Botti Fan
My husband and I saw Chris Botti last weekend in Temecula, CA. He and his band delivery high quality entertainment. Catch them in person whenever you can. As for Italia, we just finished listening to this album for the third time -- in 3 hours. It is beautiful and moving. Nessum Dorma alone is worth the price.

Simone Dinnerstein's Berlin Philharmonie Recital: A Triumph of Splendid Musicianship
Barely more than six months after Simone Dinnerstein's triumphant debut at the Berlin Philharmonie - the modern concert hall which is the official residence of the Berliner Philharmoniker - Telarc has issued her sophomore recording, "The Berlin Concert", and one which is bound to please her ever growing legion of fans (of which I am now one). In a performance that is approximately an hour and ...

I suppose that in some way..........
....that this piece shall always remind me of the scene in "Silence of the Lambs" where Dr. Lechter is listening to the Glenn Gould recording of it in his jail cell just before all hell breaks loose. Of course, many consider the Gould version definitive; it is fabulous, but I contend that we will never hear definitive until we hear Bach play it Up Yonder. Bach's mind worked in ways that only God ...

The Standard
If you're a music student at almost any major school (I just finished my undergraduate at Indiana University, for example) you'll most likely need to take a course that uses these CD's as part of its history survey. For that purpose, this set is an excellent collection. These, with their companion Norton Anthology of Western Music, and in conjunction with Grout/Palisca's History of Western ...

Their Artistry Is Their Legacy
As a Boston resident from 1985-1994, I attended numerous Emmanuel Music events ranging from the Sellars production of Handel's "Giulio Cesare" (brought to Boston by Sarah Caldwell & the Opera Company of Boston) to several of the weekly Bach Cantatas that they performed Sundays at the Emmanuel Church services. I even returned to Boston once to specifically hear the ensemble's performance of ...

Argerich Talks and Plays
Martha Argerich, for many of us, has long been an enigma. She has always been a private person, one who does not seek the spotlight, who even cancels performances because, it is said, of nervousness, shyness. Filmmaker Georges Gachot, after years of entreaties, gets her to agree, to speak with him on camera. She comes across as a soft-spoken, shy, immensely intelligent but often cryptic person, ...

This has been a favorite of both my children. My 7-year old loved this video as a toddler and now my youngest enjoys it even more. My 22-month old loves to count with the number train and name the objects as they appear on the screen. Love that they use the same objects to show 1 item, then two, etc. it helps with counting and object recognition. We slowly started counting up to five with the ...

For Wagner Fans And At A Fantastic Price.
When most music enthusiasts think of "great" Wagner conductors, usually the names of Von Karajan, Solti, and Furtwaengler come to mind. For some odd reason, Karl Boehm and Wolfgang Sawallisch are rarely considered and that's a shame. (No disrepect meant towards James Levine, an excellent conductor of Wagner or Silvio Varviso.) I'd venture as far as to say that Karl Boehm is one of the least ...
