AWESOME CD
This cd was just sooo unexpected. Just listen to the samples and tell me you don't want to be a part of this. Hell, it sounds even better than the samples. A really creative cd to say the least. But if your going to get it why miss out on the [CD+DVD, Deluxe Edition] there are two bonus tracks: Theme Song & Listen Shine Blockas Remix feat. Gucci Mane, Bun B & Project Pat & the five ...

Five star record, three star remaster
Definitely Top's best record, for my money, Tres Hombres has been restored to its original vinyl mix, but compressed like every other modern production. Why can't they just leave the dynamic range as it was on the classic first pressings of rock's greats? Are they afraid our ears can't take a little subtlety any more? This is better than the six-pack version, but it still ain't the real deal. ...

Fantastic Album
If you like Dusty Springfield then Dusty in Memphis is for you. Loads of songs, some familar, some not. The more you listen, the more you realize that Dusty was at the top of her craft. These songs were sung over 40 years ago. Dusty can be appreciated in this album. Enjoy this moment in time.

a beautiful introduction to the music of Dusty Springfield......
I can honestly attest to the title of this review because this album was my introduction to British vocalist Dusty Springfield's impressive body of work. This was generated during her 1960s and 1970s heyday, as a reigning queen of "Blue Eyed Soul" (blues/soul music interpretated by Caucasian musicians) in the United States and the United Kingdom. For starters, Springfield's voice is ...

Why Is No One Talking Anout the Fact That Big Boi Just Dropped the Album of the Year?
Seriously. Every song here has a pop hook (meant in the truest sense of the word) that transcends "hip hop". Like "Crazy", "Paper Planes", or, oh yeah "Hey Ya" , these are songs that sound instantly familiar, but not because they've bitten something that's been done before, but rather because they have a timeless quality to them. "Follow Us" has a chorus that you swear you've heard before. ...

It changed my life!
OK, maybe "Fandango" only had a profound influence on my taste in music. While I was stationed in Germany in the early 70s, a friend lent me "Fandango" and "Tres Hombres." (When we get together, he asks me when I plan to return them. I tell him there are two chances of that happening: Fat and none.) I've been a fan ever since. There are many purveyors of Texas-style rock, but none of the others ...

Solid Throughout
Elton John is a truly interesting figure in terms of popular music of the last 40 years. He became a household name, a pop culture icon, and a staple of Top 40 radio and the hit single. I will not disagree with other reviewers that perhaps his strongest writing and strongest playing and singing come from before John's greatest commercial success. Both Tumbleweed Connection and Honky Chateau ...

Dusty's music is her legacy to us all
A Girl Called Dusty was the first record album released by Dusty Springfield; and it turned out to be quite a brilliant debut! Even in our times this music sounds so good; I can put this anytime into my CD player and enjoy it no matter what. Dusty's ability to sing so many types of ballads impresses me; she always gave blood to please and thrill her fans. The sound on this album is excellent and ...

fine tribute to a superlative artist--BRAVO, BURT BACHARACH !!!
Burt Bacharach was quite an artist in his heyday; and these numbers remain just as beautiful now as they were when they were first released. He collaborated primarily with lyricists Hal David and former wife Carole Bayer Sager; but his remarkable genius as a composer made his music so special that it still touches the hearts of countless people every day. This two CD set has plenty of Burt ...

Great CD
It is a great CD. If you like country music, this is a great buy. Not all the songs are about America, but make you feel good and proud of where you come from. NOTE: Most of the bad reviews below have to more with politics than music. These folks probably have never listened to all the songs let alone actually buying the CD.

A Perfect Snapshot
This is a really great overview of the career of one the most important voices in pop music: 24 tracks that sample the hits of the 1960s, along with a few insightful picks from out of left field. If you like her for the hits you remember -- I Only Want To Be With You, Son Of A Preacher Man -- this will give you a better picture of her talents and sensibilities than you could get from just a few ...

Every bit as good as Troubadour
There's a good chance you bought K'Naan's Troubadour and you liked it as much as I did. You're going back a few years to consider picking up K'Naan's 2005 album Dusty Foot Philosopher. I very strongly recommend you do. You will not be disappointed. DFP is a bit rawer than Troubadour, allowing K'Naan's brilliant poetic abilities to shine through on this album. There aren't many stars such as ...

Dusty sold her songs without even trying--and that's no small feat !!!
Dusty Springfield could take a song and make it her own with her impeccable sense of timing, her excellent diction and her ability to perform with great sensitivity. This CD gives us a generous twenty songs by Dusty that should appeal to any Dusty Springfield fan. The track set begins with "Silver Threads And Golden Needles." This early track features Dusty singing wonderfully with The ...

This is the best
This is the best DVD set of its type I have ever seen. The main reason is that most such productions give about a 30-second clip of each song and then cut back to the interviews. In this set all the songs are performed in their entirety. The sound has been nicely cleaned up and although quite a few songs are lip-synched, that was the way they were presented then. The interview style is very ...

Once Upon A Time With Dusty
A lot of great music is included on this 84 minute DVD. It starts with Dusty Springfield's rendition of I ONLY WANT TO BE WITH YOU, from 1964, and ends with A BRAND NEW ME, in 1969. Brief, informative interviews with Dusty and people who worked with her, such as Burt Bacharach, are woven into the program. What is unique about this presentation is that not a single interview interferes with any of ...
