Music from a Painted Cave15 reviews
Robert Mirabal & Rare Tribal Mob

Red Feather, 2001

The coolest concert I ever saw.
Guitars strum, rattles shake, traditional Native American dancers dance, shamans howl, and beautiful women sing and dance. There is a rock drum set and a native american set. The Native American flute music is really moving. I would recommend this CD for anyone who likes rock or alternative. This music comes from a deep place in Robert Mirabals' soul. I've introduced nearly all my friends to it, ...

Robert Mirabal

Warner Bros / Ada, 1997

Ordering our THIRD copy because we've worn the first 2 out!
You heard right - our third copy! As far as my husband and I are concerned, no Native American artist can compare to Robert Mirabal. No other artist moves you the way he does. No one else writes lyrics and music that bring out feelings like he does. And his performances are better than anyone I've ever seen - of any genre. This isn't your "father's" music - this is a cultural breakthrough for ...

Totemic Flute Chants2 reviews
Johnny Whitehorse

Silver Wave, 2007

Excellent Native American Flute Compositions
If you enjoy Native American music, you should purchase this new album, which was the 2008 Grammy Award Winner for Best Native American Music Album. The CD consists of twelve original compositions, each devoted to a different totem animal that also serves as inspiration for the music. The compositions are unique and well-crafted, using Native American flutes, drums, and other instruments. The ...

Johnny Whitehorse

Silver Wave, 2006

Mirabel at his best
Johnny Whitehorse comes to life through the magical weaving of drums and flute. The resulting tapestry is mysterious, melodious, powerful, evocative, and filled with story. Ride with Johnny Whitehorse - it is a journey well worth taking. This CD is my favorite Robert Mirabel.

Native Suite-Chants, Dances and the Remembered Earth4 reviews
Bill Miller, Robert Mirabal

Warner Bros / Wea, 1996

Miller and Mirabal explore their traditional roots
Robert Mirabal's solo music tends toward new age, and Bill Miller's toward contemporary folk and rock, but here, both put aside the embellishments to create truly Native American medleys of drums, pow wow chanting, and dark flute duos - with little hint of modern instrumentation. The first half of "Embrace and Betrayal," which has a wonderful voodoo feel about it, is the highlight for me. ...

Buena Vista Social Club Presents: Manuel Guajiro Mirabal9 reviews
Manuel "El Guajiro" Mirabal

Nonesuch, 2005

¡Perfeccion musical!
¡BRAVO!!

Warrior Magician6 reviews
Robert Mirabal

Silver Wave, 1996

Magical listening
I have yet to find a Mirabal piece I don't love. At work I can listen to instrumental music and Warrior Magician is one my co-workers and I listen to over and over. The tunes run from bold to haunting with the lilt of the flute providing a counter point.

Indians Indians2 reviews
Robert Mirabal

Silver Wave, 2003

Indains Indians
I have to say this one is my favorite CD out of Robert Mirabals collection. I listened to this one on a daily basis. The way he puts his real life experiance in with his music took me back to my days of being a boy.

Song Carrier5 reviews
Robert Mirabal

Silver Wave, 1995

Excellent Mirabal
This album is Mirabal at his best. As usual, his tone is impeccable and his style is perfect. I found that the best songs are the few that he has taken from a previous recording, "Warriors," and redone, like "Rainsong" and "Rio." Ideal for any native American flute appreciator/player (with the exception of one song that has bothersome mood tones in the background).

Taos Tales17 reviews
Robert Mirabal

Silver Wave, 1999

Beautiful and haunting
This CD was my very first exposure to Robert Mirabal about a year ago. It was recommended to me by a store clerk in Albuquerque New Mexico and it has since become my favorite piece of music. I also have all of Robert's other CD's, each one is beautiful in its own way. Taos Tales are the stories Robert grew up listening to at his home on the pueblo in Taos, New Mexico, where he still lives today. ...

Pueblo Christmas4 reviews
Robert Mirabal

Star Road Records, LLC, 2007

Robert Mirabal does it again
This CD is a fantastic blend of traditional Christmas songs done in a non "traditional" manner. Robert's flute playing is, of course, fantastic and the old songs take on a totally new and wonderful sound.

Land3 reviews
Robert Mirabal

Warner Bros / Wea, 1995

Magical
Robert has such immense talent, it cannot be captured fully on tape. I have seen him in concert 3 times now. He becomes the song, the spirit flows through him into his instruments and they become one. His every movement is fluid and he becomes the bird, the eagle, the wolf, the spirit. His music calms and excites at the same time. After a long day, all I have to do is pop in a cassette on the way ...

Amadeo Vives, Miguel Roa, ...

Sony, 1995

A Beautiful Perfomance of a Masterpiece
It is wonderful that the world is discovering zarzuela, the best kept secret in music. And there is no better way to be introduced to zarzuela than with this beautiful recording of Dona Francisquita, perhaps the greatest work of the genre. On this album, there is a general excellence in the performance of soloists, chorus and orchestra. Placido Domingo is in excellent voice, combining passion ...
