Wow
This CD is amazing. Some songs I wouldn't necessarily just lay back and listen to, as they're more fillers, but even so, it adds to the experience, especially if you just want to play the entire track in one go. All of the songs are intense and really catchy. I love this CD and can't imagine getting tired of it.

Classic, at reduced price
As much (if not more) than any other film composer, Bernard Herrmann's music stands up to listening independent of the films. The emphasis here is on Herrmann's scores for Hitchcock, when both men were arguably at their creative heights. Note: this is NOT a collection of original soundtrack recordings. However, Salonen and the LA Philharmonic at absolutely top-notch, and the recording is ...

Tweedy in his prime!!
This movie is amazing, and shows the happy and anoyed side of Tweedy. I have seen Wilco live 5-6 times and Tweedy puts his heart into every show. Anyone who has seen Tweedy/Wilco live knows how easily he can get upset with the crowd when they are not paying attention to the stage. This documentry follows Tweedy accross the US while he is on his solo tour. The selection of live songs is very ...

One of Herrmann's best scores for Hitchcock
Along with "The Wrong Man", "North by Northwest" is among Bernard Herrmann's best scores for a Hitchcock film (I'm not listing "Psycho" because, while it's a brilliant score, it's probably not something most folks would listen to for pleasure). Hitch and Herrmann began their collaboration with "The Man Who Knew To Much" and continued on through 8 movies (ending with "Torn Curtain" which, while ...

Contra music at its best
I have had the pleasure of dancing with these musicians on many occasions. This CD is one of my favorites because it not only recalls those times, but allows me to listen to these fine musicians in my own home. George Penk may be one of the best fiddlers now playing, while Sue Songer and Clyde Curley keep the music rich and the beat steady. You won't hear a lot of flash or crash, but you will ...

Much more than title!!!
What a treasure!!! Mickey Jones, through his camera shows never before footage of the most important musicians of the time. This was done before all the advancements in photography snd what you see is real! Mickey Jones left us a time capsule. The Beatle stories are cool! After we watched this DVD we felt like we just had a very pleasant visit with Mickey in our living room, telling and showing ...

Inspired and Insightful Work!
This is a very interesting CD! Using a small group or soloists to perform works that are usually done with large choral groups gives an entirely different sound and feel to this music. I'm very familiar with O Magnum Mysterium, one of the great modern choral works, having sung it myself or heard it performed many times. But sung with a single soprano soloist, it has an intimate, emotional appeal ...

Ottman Ottman, John John
This is one of John Ottman's best scores - and if you haven't seen Shane Black's movie yet, search it out, because it's one of the most entertaining times you'll have at the theater this year. A blast! Ottman's music score totally blends comedy, suspense, mystery, action and romance into a really cool, Mancini-like jazzy trip. I can't stop listening to it. Similar to his "Usual Suspects" and ...

I first heard the song "The Northwest Passage" back in the early nineties on public radio, but I missed out on the artist and album identification. After over a decade of searching, I finally tracked down the source of that song on Amazon. I bought this album for that one song, but was pleasantly surprised to find the other songs on the album were excellent folk songs too. Most heartily ...

Ubi Soft, 2001
Don't be fooled, it's classic stuff.
Composer Jack Wall took over scoring duties from Robyn Miller for Myst III, and although he takes the music in an entirely new direction, the main Myst jingle is still in there. But it's now evolved into something a whole lot more involving and effective. Replacing the eerie, isolated atmosphere of Riven are a huge orchestra, angelic children's choirs, seductive string solos and the ever ...
