Strange Days 40th Anniversary Re-issue
I have always loved Strange Days by the Doors because of the imagery and flow of the songs. It is an album that begs to be listened to in it's entirety, at one time. The beautiful "You're Lost Little Girl," and "Can't See Your Face..." are truly production masterpieces. Hearing this album again remastered by Bruce Botnick sent me high above the clouds! The music is so vibrant, clean and ...

Mayer Hawthorne

Stones Throw, 2009

my favorite music purchase in quite some time
saw that this guy was opening for Raekwon here in San Diego. Wanted to see who he was, so i did a little research. Nothing like what i had anticipated. what a great, soulful, sound. good production, really catchy songs and lyrics. i have turned quite a few people onto this CD. Fantastic.

When You're Strange (Songs From The Motion Picture)12 reviews
The Doors

Rhino Records, 2010

A Masterpiece
I truly don't understand the negative reviews of this CD; it gives us everything from the music of the Doors, to interviews, to poetry by Jim himself (though read aloud by Depp). I'm tired of generic CD's with just the music and nothing but music, and "When You're Strange" frees me from that redundancy. This is the perfect mix which can allow the listener to get a closer glimpse of who Jim ...

Some Strange Country3 reviews
Crooked Still

Signature Sounds, 2010

Beautiful playing, haunting vocals, and surprising arrangements - Wonderful
Coming just a year after the aptly-named limited release live album Live, Some Strange Country is just what I craved - a combination of the incredible songs from Live with the studio mastering of Crooked Still's last studio album Still Crooked. Lead singer Aoife O'Donovan croons her hauntingly beautiful vocals amidst the inspired playing of Tristan Clarridge (cello), Corey DiMario (upright bass), ...

Keep on Loving You43 reviews
Reba Mcentire

Valory, 2009

We Just Keep On Loving Reba!
After a long wait from her last proper studio album,Reba is back on form with this Pop/Country gem! The album starts off with her big hit single Strange,a catchy uptempo. There's also some other great upbeat songs like Just When I Thought I'd Stopped Loving You,I Want A Cowboy(which features Katrina Elam on harmonies),Pink Guitar and the bluegrass fuelled Nothing To Lose. But the real beauties ...

Love Is Strange32 reviews
Jackson Browne, David Lindley

Inside Recordings, 2010

Intro translation
I'm surpised about the complaints about the intros being in Spanish, since actually only a little part of them is in Spanish. Anyway,I've translated the Spanish portions in the hope that somebody who might be put off by them won't pass up this terrific set (well, except for maybe three songs). I've made a few changes since Browne's Spanish needs a little fixing, but, that said, I really admire ...

When You're Strange: A Film About The Doors28 reviews
The Doors

Eagle Rock Entertaiment, 2010

why die for knowing you changed the perspective of what people thought was a revolution.
we all knew this day would come a visionary picks us up upon our feet and shows us what the world really means and why we have the fighting chance to make a difference upon other people. The doors showed us that we had the knowledge and the power to exceed what our dream would become of what we are. This documentary is one of a kind in showing one of the greatest bands ever having total control ...

Strange Change Machine5 reviews
Grip Weeds

Rainbow Quartz, 2010

I've already heard the album of the year! Why haven't you?
The Grip Weeds have pulled off what few of even the greatest artists in music have been able to do: A double album with no filler. "Strange Change Machine" finds The Grip Weeds stretching out and expanding on their trademark sound. "Speed Of Life", "Truth Is (Hard To Take)" and the title track are all on familiar territory, but "Strange Change Machine" features styles and textures that are ...

Moody Blues

Umvd Labels, 1999

The Moodys do it again!
I have followed these guys since 1970. This is one of their best albums. Several tracks in particular are worth mentioning. English Sunset, the first track has the tight harmony and thought provoking lyrics typical of the Moodys. Foolish Love has charming lyrics and a haunting melody making it on a par with their best songs. I recommend this album highly!

Excellent album...
Admittedly I am a hardcore blues fan, but this album is unexpectedly stunning.... it evokes a sound that is long in the past that the soul of the blues lover longs for... if 10 stars were available, I would gladly give it!

Paul Thorn

Ark 21, 2000

Cold Iced Tea And A Piece Of Pie
I think Paul Thorn is a hugely talented guy, and of all his albums, this is my favorite. Paul is known for oddball, quirky songs that are straightforward yet twisted. This CD, more than his others, shows his inner personality as a bit of a refined rebel, not afraid to gently mock situations that most songwriters would steer well clear of. Of all the songs on the CD, my easy favorite (in fact ...

Strange Angels27 reviews
Laurie Anderson

Warner Bros / Wea, 1989

Outstanding, beautiful, intelligent, ethereal lyrical music
After 20 years, Laurie Anderson's "Strange Angels", originally issued in 1989, is a haunting, lyric masterpiece. Laurie Anderson is a musical, visual/graphic, video, literary, and conceptual artist but in "Strange Angels" she creates a brilliant and beautiful statement wrapped in ethereal orchestration. Anderson never compromises her intelligence or underestimates the intelligence of her ...

Bond

Decca, 2002

Great Music for all
I originally bought this BOND album many years ago, I played it for everyone, and I have yet to find anyone who does not like it. So I have given it to many people, as was my latest purchase, which I gave to my daughter-in-laws father for his birthday, he loved it and they played it as the musical background while watching the sonogram of our new grandchild.
