Hirt's Gardens

Hirt's Gardens

Great looking and easy to care for
This is one of my favorite carnivorous plants. It's striking to look at and easy to grow. I have a couple now growing in terrariums. Make sure you have plenty of head room and a bright enough florescent before trying this yourself. These guys grow over a foot high if they get healthy.

Hirt's Gardens

Awesome!
The plant I got was larger than what I expected! Usually carnivorous plants I order are sent as tiny seedlings; this was large enough that after a week or so I felt I could feed it, I put a cricket in one of the pitchers and now there are new ones sprouting like mad! Some of the new pitchers are already longer than the originals; this is a wonderful buy for anyone even mildly interested in ...

Glass Mist Sprayers - The Vintage Way to Water4 reviews

Better than a toothbrush!
You can't appreciate such a simple little item until you live 50 miles from civilization. Atomizers, except for the 32oz wobbly, drippy plastic kind designed for chemicals, are unheard of in the sticks. This has more uses than the oft cited toothbrush to do a myriad of tasks around the house - and look good doing it. It doesn't drip, it doesn't tip over, and it looks nice on the window sill by ...

Sweet Pitcher Plant 10 seed-Carnivorous-Sarracenia alata

Hirt's Gardens

Hirt's Gardens

Sarracenia alata Red Throat is green with a red interior lid and a red throat. It produces delicate looking yellow to cream colored flowers on tall stems in the early Spring, usually before pitcher growth begins. They trap their prey by offering them nectar to sip which is secreted around the lip of the plant and also at the base of the lid. Flying and crawling insects will find the nectar and if they take a wrong step, they will tumble into ...

Hirts Gardens

as described
The seeds come with exact planting instructions. These are more complicated than I expected, including a cooling period. However, I followed the instructions, and about 1/2 of the seeds sprouted. These have been very slow to grow and I had a few fatalities transplanting. I now have two very cute Purple Pitcher Plant sprouts, about 1/2" tall. This was a really fun project. This process took ...

Hooded Pitcher Plant - Sarracenia - Carnivorous - Hardy

Hirt's Gardens

Hirt's Gardens

Hooded Pitcher Plant Sarracenia minor Sarracenia minor grows in boggy areas in openings among pine trees in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Sarracenia minor is known as the hooded pitcher plant. Each pitcher leaf end in a re-curved hood, which serves very effectively as a way to trap insects. The bright reddish to purplish colors are an attractive signal. The inside of the hood has nectar glands in it, so the leaf is ...

Its range extends from southern Alabama, through Florida and Georgia, to the coastal plains of southern Virginia and South Carolina. Hirt's Gardens

Hirt's Gardens

This is a Nepenthes mix. It contains many species, including mirabilis, gracilis, sanguinea, truncata and many more that are only sold in this mix, but I cannot specify. Tropical pitcher plants generally grow as vines, climbing over other plants, and may grow as epiphytes, growing on other plants in the forest canopy, or as low shrubs. That plant grows well as a hanging basket plant inside the home, in a hot greenhouse or in a terrarium in your ...

Twist and Spout
I love this! Now when I freshen the water in my aquarium I put it in 2 liter soda bottles and have nourishing water for my houseplants when I need it. When I'm not using the Twist and Spout, it takes very little space under the sink and the bottles store nicely too. It delivers water to all my houseplants without dripping water all over everything and no more tripping over the sprawling leaky ...
