Ultimate RPG Archives9 reviews

Windows | Interplay Productions

Experience some gaming history!
These are indeed old games, and as such, they don't look anywhere near as good as newer games. However, there are a bunch of classics here that should be experienced by any fan of PC gaming. If you love getting immersed inside a virtual world, practically all these games will deliver the goods. And printed manuals? Almost unheard of these days! If you are a true fan and don't mind tweaking your ...

Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol 16 reviews

PlayStation2 | SNK, 2007

The Second SNK Fighting Game Series to Arrive for PS2
It's about time that this collection comes to the US. This has the first 4 Fatal Fury games (the Real Bout Fatal Fury games are in Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol 2 which is currently out only in Japan). Like the Art of Fighting Anthology, these 4 games are 100% versions of the arcade games. However for the first Fatal Fury game, the issue of controls still comes up. FF 2 improves on this, ...

Dragon Magazine Archive12 reviews

Windows | Wizards of the Coast

Solid content with poor delivery
It would be asking a lot to have 250+ issues of a magazine delivered in the most high tech framework, one that would meet future standards seamlessly. (Crying about the program not working on niche platforms like UNIX is a little odd, given that this is a consumer product.) But TSR's choice to go with a proprietary interface that doesn't work as well as the shareware Acrobat Reader is just odd. ...

Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol 26 reviews

PlayStation2 | SNK, 2008

"Real Bout" is Back!!
I used to have these games on an import for the Sega Saturn and by far this is the best port, EVER. No loading time between matches, classic 2D fighting, color edit, and your choice of sound tracks: Original or Arranged. You just can't get a better Fatal Fury game than this bad boy. It even has a practice mode so you can perfect those combos in any of the three games!

The Ultimate Wizardry Archives8 reviews

Windows | Interplay Productions

revolutionary!
Some players to whom graphics is all important should not bother with this game, with extremely few exceptions, every wall in this game looks the exact same. that can lead to some confusion so the automap feature which was included in wizardry gold was a huge bonus. the neat thing about wiz 7 (the greatest rpg of all time) is that your maps become more detailed as your character's skill in ...

LucasArts Archive Series: Star Wars X-Wing Alliance16 reviews

Windows | LucasArts Entertainment, 2001

XWA: Extended fun for all
I don't remember this game when it first came out, but I just recently got it, and it still packs a punch. With a truly gripping plotline that follows from just after the events of The Empire Strikes Back to the end of Return of the Jedi (And yes, you even get to play a scene from Shadows of the Empire), X-Wing Alliance (XWA) is a great game. While the graphics aren't exactly stunning to today's ...

Forgotten Realms Archives: Silver Edition11 reviews

Windows | Interplay

The Golden Age of 1-Player RGS
For those having problems getting many of these games to work on modern computers-- Go to Google or Yahoo and do a search for two things- DosBox and D-Fend. They're both freeware. Many of these games won't run properly on modern computers but that's where DosBox comes into play. It's a program that pretends it's an old DOS machine and exists only to run other programs (old games like these). ...

Sam & Max Hit the Road4 reviews

Windows | LucasArts

What a riot!
Sam & Max Hit the Road is a laugh riot! I truly laughed out loud many times while playing this computer game. There are too many games out there that contain things you wouldn't want your children to see. Not so with Sam & Max. This is just good, clean fun with unexpected, bizarre (in a fun way) things happening. You never know what strange thing is going to come up next! A wild and weird ...

LucasArts Archive Series: The Monkey Island Archives30 reviews

Windows | LucasArts Entertainment, 2001

Amazing
Im a major MI fan (i spent a lot of time tracking down all the games- had no idea it was on amazon :() Anyway, i'll review one at a time: 1: My first video game. It is witty, charming, and kid appropriate. After playing, i couldnt WAIT to see if they would release other games, and maybe even a movie! 2: A very nice sequel, and while it relates to number one, its ok to play without playing the ...

Lucas Archives Volume 113 reviews

Windows | LucasArts Entertainment

Do these old games work on today's PCs ?
For fans of LucasArts' classic DOS adventure games, LUCASARTS ARCHIVES VOL. 1 is a must-buy. This six-CD set contains full versions of the 1992 game INDIANA JONES AND THE FATE OF ATLANTIS, and the two 1993 masterpieces DAY OF THE TENTACLE and SAM AND MAX HIT THE ROAD (the latter will have a sequel coming in 2004). The Ultimate Strategy Archives2 reviews

Windows | Atari

The best strategy game collection ever!
If you can find a copy of this, =get= it. I bought it (twice)for a high price and a low price. It's a great value either way,and a good choice for the casual gamer (who doesn't mind getting hopelessly addicted). The original Civilization is here, as is Heroes of Might and Magic (I). Both of these games are =still= more addictive and playable than 98% of games released. In addition, you get ...

LucasArts Archive Series: Star Wars: Force Commander7 reviews

Windows | LucasArts Entertainment, 2001

Very good!
This is a very good RTS game. Tons of cool vehicles, soldiers, buildings. And diverse landscapes. Interesting storyline and great graphics. But yes, it does take up a lot of memory and probably will be slow on a older computer.

Forgotten Realms Archives: Collection 33 reviews

Windows | Interplay

It's alright, but there are some issues.
I will review this in three parts, arranged by game. Dungeon Hack: If you like hack and slash games and don't care about plot, this is possibly for you. The plot is this, you are recovering an item from a dungeon. That's it. You can set up the dungeon, or pick from preset settings. It can be fun, but it quickly get repetitive since the only other characters in the dungeon are the monsters. ...

LucasArts Archive Series: Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace14 reviews

Windows | LucasArts Entertainment, 2001

An all around great game
In this game you take on the role of four different characters, Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Queen Amidala, and Captain Panaka to defeat Darth Maul and the dark side of the force. Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses and their own weapons to start with. Although characters might be flawless they might be put in levels where their moves and weapons that they start with will not ...
