Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Gold Edition

Great game, wish I'd bought the Complete Edition
I got to this game a few years after it came out, but I am not at all dissapointed in the content. The only thing I wish is that I'd have bought the complete edition (which I didn't know existed), instead of buying this edition and Beyond the Sword separately.

Outstanding game play!
Sid Meirs is genius. This game will give you many hours of intense game play. I wish there were more games of this quality to enjoy, instead of the mindless shoot-em-up stuff that makes up 90% of the games sold. I love the open endness of the game which allows the player to enter the game as not only a pirate but a trader or Spanish raider. It's also educational for younger players; teaching ...

Civ still rocks, even on the small screen!
As a long time Civ player (all the way back to Civ I), I can say that this title is indeed the true Civ experience. Everything you loved about the original seems to be here and it is greatly simplified. It has to be simplified really as the DS system is not as capable as a full blown PC is. The maps seem a tad small to me, meaning you bump into other civilizations faster than you might ...

Loved this as a teen.
Both my husband and I loved Civ2 as teens. Spent way too many hours playing it. When we saw all 4 games available for $30, we jumped at the chance to have them all. Now we spend way too much time playing Civ4. (Note: if you update Civ4 over the internet, there's a problem with loading shader libraries... google for the answer, it's out there, but it's a bit frustrating if you don't know what to ...

Conquer the world...or at least try
This is the most recent incarnation of the popular CIVILIZATION game. For those not familiar with it's predessors the object is to either conquer the world by either military force, cultural superiority, diplomataic means or winning the space race. The player can either play as an individual against the computer or against other human players or as part of a team. The player dons the persona ...

Seemed boring to me but apparently its epic.
I bought this game off of Steampowered and was expecting it to be epic, which I can see it is with all the different elements in the game. The only problem is that it's almost too complicated, once you get to the 1900's the turns take way too long and everything just slows down giving you nothing to do but move military forces around. To be fair I was expecting something like Black & White and ...

Sid Meier Does It Again!
First, the Sid Meier games aren't for everyone. Period. That said, if you enjoy turn based strategy games, Civilization is the grandaddy of all turn based strategy games dating back to the early 90's, this being what I consider the most polished of them all. Many of the reviews for this game so far all have some truth to them, so instead of repeating all those comments, let me take a few ...

Umpteenth generation of a game
I am not good with the computer world, but I have played "Civilization" since it first appeared. Each version is an improvement, but this is the best. I enjoy the new civilizations, e.g., Holy Romsn Empire, Holland, but I really like the new gossipy reports about what is going on with both my enemies and myself. It is lots of fun, even for a non-geek such as myself. I suspect computer ...

Civ streamlined
I can't stop playing this game. I am an old Civ fan since the first version so I was excited about how this would be on a console. I am very happy with the result. I've read other reviews that are knocking the game's short length and lack of options, but I think those people are missing the point of this game. This is not Civ for the PC. This is as close to pick-up-and-play Civ as you can get ...

Rating the possibilities...
Well, this isn't usually something that I do, but that's just how much this game has already impressed me even without being released. I've been playing computer games for quite some time now and I consider myself an avid gamer. Some of my all-time favorites include Age of Empries 2: The Conquerors, Quake 3, Worms (and all subseqent sequels), Prey, Warcraft 3, Counter-Strike (the first one) and ...

A classic favorite simulation!
I love this game! It is comparable to the Simcity and Sims games in graphics and gameplay. I have spent many hours of entertainment playing Simgolf. You start out with a piece of land and you get to build the ultimate golf course. You have to figure out how to keep your golfers happy and make money off of your course. All the little golfers have their own personalities and say different things as ...

Great Graphics
PSP Daxter Entertainment Pack - Ice Silver The game was a lot of fun for my 14 year old, who said that while the graphics aren't as detailed as the console version, they still did a very good job of porting the game to the PSP. He said they still maintained all the elements that made the console game entertaining and he would recommend it highly.

Another Sid Meiers Civ game pack for the completely and totally addicted
Once again, the Civ IV products are not a disappointment to the totally addicted CIVILIZATION individual. Though we waited a full year to purchase this particular expansion pack, as it did not have a great deal of new items, it was a decidedly good addition to the CIV gaming collection. For the strategy turn/based game enthusiast, the Sid Meiers Civilization games are addicting and interesting. ...

Still the best, after all these years
This is still he best Civilization game even though it is not called that. I own all Civs and all expansions and while I like Civ IV immensely, this is the most playable. The factions are truly different. Playing with Gaia, for example, requires completely different strategy. The units can be designed as you wish, a feature that doesn't exist in any other version of Civ. You can create your own ...

Fun for Old Railroaders and for Soon to be Railroaders
I bought this for my 12 year old son. Both him, and myself have become proficient on the older Railroad Tycoon II and when we saw that a new "Railroads" came out, I bought it for the both of us. "Railroads" graphics are the big standout in the Railroads game. I have a 2003ish clean running Pentium 4 @ 2.66GHz with NVidia graphics card and 1GB of RAM and I had to turn the graphics on this ...

Civilation III
Absolutely addictive, better than Sim City, rather than building a city, you get to build an empire with CivIII. Tried Civ Complete but found it more difficult to play though the added features were great. In Civilization III, you start with a dark world you have to send explorers out to discover. Build as many cities as you can, trying to add as many luxury items (wine, spice, silk, etc) and ...

Time to pilllege and plunder!
I bought this game on a whim and am so glad I did! I've stayed up later than I should have every day this week playing it and it is still just as fun as the very first time. What's better than fencing and treasure hunting? Nothing! It's worth every penny spent. I am disappointed that I couldn't be a female pirate though. But I've gotten over it.

Excellent game, changes everytime you play it
I think this game is endless. You can play it different every time! This is one of the few games that I have consistently played over the years. Yes I said years, my son and I have gotten countless amounts of hours and enjoyment from this game. I highly recommend it.
