Okoge6 reviews
Misa Shimizu, Takehiro Murata

Cinevista Inc., 2003

Sad but Lively gay film from Japan

+ Interesting
+ Homosexuality in a Japanese context

I have seen this movie so many times. The strange relationship of a gay couple and a female (okoge) is truely sentimental. This story does reflect the truth of gay males in Japan lively. They are coming out more though. I love the screen of drug queens fought against guys who made fun of them.

Stunning, Innovative, Moving and Brilliant - Not for vapid US gays

+ A human family
+ Grandmum got the flick in the end.

I've read the 22 reviews that exist as of this writing (june 2006). I am so glad the the majority of reviewers have appreciated this amazing film from Spain. There are plenty of spoilers in the reviews and I wouldn't want to rob new viewers of the joy I had in the story unfolding. It was a ...

Different For Girls40 reviews
Steven Mackintosh, Rupert Graves

Fox Lorber, 2000

Different for Girls is good for everyone

+ Kudos!
+ COOL

This is a film from 1996 but don't let that put you off. It is standing the test of time. It is about Kim, a post operative trans-sexual and Paul, his/her mate from school. Karl/Kim was bullied at school for being gay, in reality he was a she in a male body. Paul protected him. We see that in ...

Lucas Me Queria a Mi3 reviews
Esperanza Roy, Jordi Mollà

Venevision, 2005

Silly, hilarious fun!

+ Very Funny

What an enjoyable comedy! The plot is so far-fetched, the acting so over-the-top, and the script chock full of delicious camp, that the movie is a joy to watch. Best friends, Dani, Toni and Carlos all fall head-over-heels in lust with their new roommate, jealousy comes between them. But Lucas isn't ...

Steven Weber, Peter Jaconson

MGM (Video & DVD), 2003

Amazingly good!

+ Satisfactorily Exceptional

Some of us remember what it was like "coming of age" in the mid 1980s when everyone was terrified of HIV/AIDS, and coming to terms with whether we were going to let our fear ruin our enjoyment of sex and intimacy was not a small thing. This was the first movie I ever saw that acknowledged this, ...

Don't Tell Anyone17 reviews
Santiago Magill, Christian Meier

Picture This, 2001

Impresionantes actuaciones

+ Coming Out Is So Very Hard To Do
+ Square Peg for only Round Holes

Bent70 reviews
Clive Owen, Lothaire Bluteau

MGM (Video & DVD), 2003

Great Film....

+ From party animal to deep commitment
+ Bent

I bought the film Bent very recently because I like very much Clive Owen. This is a great film. A good example on how our mind is free and superior to any barrier or boundary. A love between two persons is always beautiful... It's also a very sad film because shows a piece of our history that we ...

Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss77 reviews
Sean Hayes, Brad Rowe

Lions Gate, 1998

Fellini Meets Rob Reiner

+ The Kiss
+ My Life Exactly...Almost...

Director Tommy O'Haver seems to have been unable to choose between making Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss a no-nonsense romantic comedy or a Fellini epic. (Check out the excellent director's commentary, where he mentions Fellini's Fellini - Satyricon as a potential model.) Whether this is a ...

Burnt Money48 reviews

dazzling!

+ Fantastic!
+ neo-noir with vulnerability

Perhaps this is the most unforgettable film I have ever seen; the performances (most especially by the twins--Noriega/Sbaraglia) are simply mesmerizing. The story is unusual and beautiful and exciting-- so snatch it!
