Magic408 reviews
Bruce Springsteen

Columbia Records, 2007

Bruce and Magic

+ Nice songs, horrible recording
+ Best album of 2007, for sure.

Bought the CD for my husband who loves it, and he has a lot of Bruce. I have downloaded it to my Ipod and have started to listen to it. Some really fine songs on it, but I have not played enough to give a more detailed review. If hubby is happy, it was well worth the purchase!

The National

Beggars Banquet, 2007

A great rock album

+ Enjoy

It's literate, soulful, tuneful. This is music for adults -- in the tradition of Blood on the Tracks and Court and Spark. The songs get better the more you listen to them.

In Rainbows267 reviews
Radiohead

XL Recordings, 2008

Fantastic

+ Awesome Record

Radiohead is a band who's releases continue to remain solid throughout over a decade of songwriting. While other bands dwindle in their creativity, they keep it up with every album. Every song on this album is great. "Nude" and "Reckoner" are two that practically give me a religious experience ...

Sky Blue Sky189 reviews
Wilco

Nonesuch, 2007

Sobriety Breeds Perfection

+ Not as brilliant as Ghost is Born, but a natural progression

First let me say I think Jeff Tweedy is the very best male talent around today period (Jewel being the best female). This is his very best album, he uses Nels Cline to perfection, the writing is sharp and clear and the sounds delightful. This is the sound of a mind set free after years of addiction ...

Icky Thump182 reviews
The White Stripes

Warner Bros / Wea, 2007

Now seven albums strong

It's undisputed that the White Stripes are one of the best rock bands of all time. Although I might need some time to think about where to place them in my list of favorite bands, this album proves that they rank pretty high on the Richter scale. "Icky Thump" is an earthquake-shaker of an album, ...

Neon Bible136 reviews
Arcade Fire

Merge Records, 2007

At last, something fresh!

+ The Arcade Fire
+ Improvements

Recently discovered this band and I must say this is something special! At age 48 I have heard so much stuff and over the past years I thought I had just gotten too old (as it would be presumptuous to claim that modern music is going nowhere fast). So for those that listened and still listen to ...

Myths of the Near Future18 reviews
Klaxons

Geffen Records, 2007

To quote them, "Magick!"

+ Give it another album or two...
+ The best!!!

There has been a plethora of great British bands over the last few years; Kaiser Chiefs, the Kooks, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Franz Ferdinand, and Hard-Fi to mention a few. Add to that list Klaxons, winners of the 2007 Mercury music prize (they beat out Amy Winehouse's "Back to black" as well as ...
