As great as the original!

+ Amazing Blu-ray

Wow! They really did an awesome job of creating the blu-ray version of this movie. I really like this classic and the blu-ray movie is a must for any Patton fan. The audio and video are excellent. I could not be happier with this blu-ray version. Well worth the money if you really enjoy this movie.

Equus44 reviews
Richard Burton, Peter Firth

MGM (Video & DVD), 2003

A WORK OF ART

+ "I Am Yours and You Are Mine."
+ Once it gets rolling... pow!

EQUUS is one of those plays you never forget after you see it. Although the theatrical version is matchless, this film adaptation succeeds in bringing into the widescreen the painful drama of these two characters who represent - in many aspects - the torments of modern society. Brilliantly ...

Apocalypse Now - The Complete Dossier (Two-Disc Special Collector's Edition)694 reviews
Apocalyspe Now

Paramount, 2006

Stick With the Original Version.

+ Smells like Victory!
+ The Horror...

First, I'll join with those who are criticising Coppola for not releasing this movie in the original 2.35:1 aspect ratio as well as spreading each movie over two discs. Both were staggeringly incompetent decisions and I'll leave it at that. *** I'm starting to get weary when I hear the term ...

Being There214 reviews
Peters Sellers, Shirley MacLaine

Warner Home Video, 2001

Subtle and Sublime Masterpiece!

+ Been There, Seen That

It's been nearly three decades (ugh!) since I saw this film in the theater and always remembered it as being one of the great movies of all time - intelligent, witty, satirical, and thought-provoking. Sadly, I hadn't had a chance (no pun intended) to see it since and, while browsing for something ...

The Sunshine Boys21 reviews
Walter Matthau, George Burns

Warner Home Video, 2004

Matthau and Burns--the perfect couple

+ Peer under the mask of Vaudeville characters
+ Terrific comedy by two old masters

Acting more odd than he was in the Odd Couple, and definitely more grumpy than he was in Grumpy Old Men, Walter Matthau turns in an over-the-top performance as the volatile half of the Lewis and Clark vaudeville team. (He plays the impatient Willie Clark.) The perfect foil for Matthau's Clark is ...

Raging Bull (Special Edition)219 reviews
Robert De Niro, Cathy Moriarty

MGM (Video & DVD), 2005

Scorcese and DeNiro's Best Work - How can a film about such ugly people be so beautiful?

+ Raging Bull is a TKO.
+ A triumph of American cinema; a landmark if ever there was one...

This definitely isn't your average feel-good, stereotypical, underdog boxing movie. After all, Sly Stallone was the sole owner to the keys to that kingdom four years prior w/ his beloved "Rocky". In fact, this film really isn't about boxing at all (although there's a plethora of savage, short ...

Kramer vs. Kramer59 reviews
Dustin Hoffman, Meryl Streep

Sony Pictures, 2001

A poignant tale of growth and parenthood that still brings tears today...

+ Another key cultural artifact
+ "Sometimes Mommy and Daddy Don't Get Along..."

There are many films about the deterioration of the marriage arrangement, but very few of them can reach the levels of emotional attachment that `Kramer vs. Kramer' manages to grasp hold of. To say that `Kramer vs. Kramer' doesn't still resonate today is a miscalculation if you ask me, for even if ...
