Tangerinephant 5 reviews Kevin Dole 2
Afterbirth Books, 2005
Bizarro Cyberpunk Fiction
+ Middle schoolers should read this instead of Harry Potter + The title is just the beginning.
This is a great book! If you're into cyber punk-like oddities -- by authors like William Gibson, Neal Stephenson, Jeff Noon, or Jack Womack - then you will love it.
But...it's a bit weirder than the work of the aforementioned authors. It's about this guy, Michael Tangerinephant, who already has ...

David Lynch's Inland Empire (Limited Edition Two-Disc Set) 146 reviews Laura Dern, Jeremy Irons
Absurda / Rhino, 2007
Some Kind of Modern Masterpeice
+ Meaningful. Beautiful. Magnum Opus. + Not his strongest but still great!
Lynch really out-did himself with this film.
1 minute short of 3 straight hours of abstract, non-linear, mind opening, mind blowing darkness...
Laura Dern's performance was astounding, and really shook my senses. The only reason she hasn't been recognized for this role, that I can think of, is ...

Grape City 7 reviews Kevin, L Donihe
Eraserhead Press, 2006
When there's no more room in Hell...they frost the windows and hang up the "Closed" sign
+ Thank you, come again. + Hilarious!
Actually, in Kevin L. Donihe's Grape City, Hell closes because the Earth has become so appalling, Hell can no longer hold a candle. This is a topic I've believed for many years and it's nice to see someone else vocalize it.
Charles, a re-named ex-9th circle demon, lives in Grape City where he ...

The Unauthorized Woman 2 reviews Efrem Emerson
Raw Dog Screaming Press, 2005
Highly addictive
+ I Could Only Expect The Best From This Author...
From the enviously absurd mind of Efrem Emerson comes a collection of fictitious tales that not once, gives a single glimmer of monotony. Morbid humor mixed with utterly bizarre perversion create an atmosphere so twisted, characters so lovingly surreal, that from beginning to end the reader is ...

Pocket Full of Loose Razorblades 3 reviews John Edward Lawson
Afterbirth Books, 2005
Lawson is awesome!
+ Lick the Pages + Dangerous to mix with lickable toads
This collection is an excellent introduction to the work of John Lawson. His stories conjure up worlds that are like cover songs of our reality, where the original version is recognizable, but its absurdism, grotesqueness, humor, and refusal to adhere to the laws of physics make it into something ...

Fugue XXIX is the first full-length collection of short stories available from World Fantasy Award winning editor and author Forrest Aguirre. Punk Land 14 reviews Carlton Mellick III
Eraserhead Press, 2005
Even better than Satan Burger
+ Punk Land + Are you REALLY punk enough to get in?
Satan Burger is one of my favorite books, but Punk Land is even better than that. It has the characters Nan and Mortician from Satan Burger. It takes place soon after the events that took place in the first book. I recommend reading Satan Burger first but Punk Land is such a better book and is ...

Mr. Magic Realism? Absolutely!!!

Foop! 72 reviews Chris Genoa
Eraserhead Press, 2005
Loved it!
+ A funny first effort from an up-and-coming author
I really enjoyed Foop! and simply can not wait for more of his stuff to get published. The story was whimsical but still had a serious note of social commentary. His writing style would make me laugh if the plot of book was a guy reading a cereal box.
Buy it, read it, give it to a friend!
