+ east meets west...REALLY!! + Karsh Kale on his way to the peek of musical perfection
Karsh Kale's "Liberation" is in a similar vein to his breakout hit, "Realize." "Liberation" is slightly mellower and contemplative. It evokes an Indian dreamworld. It's too mystical for the dancefloor, and too intense for the yoga mat. It's in a musical liminal area, opening the doors of ...
Asian Travels 2 is a collection of mostly downbeat ethno-techno music. Generally speaking, it's more appropriate for background music than for intense listening. This is today's equivalent of the exotica movement of the 1960s, and its stars include Talvin Singh (not present on this album), Karsh ...
A great fusion of upbeat rhythms in this album, that could also be described as world music. It has good dance tracks and easy listening tracks with Middle Eastern and Indian sounds in the mix. Also a good cd,while driving as it will keep you awake while being enjoyable to listen to.
The regions represented on this latest installment of the Six Degrees Travel Series - France, Canada, Germany, Japan, Ireland, Turkey, Egypt - read like a cross-section of the world map. But isn't this Arabian Travels 2? If there is one thing you cannot say about a Six Degrees release is that it is ...
While not yet part of mainstream American music, Middle Eastern music, as evidenced by the rise of Algerian pop star Khaled in France, has sidled up to other club music forms in the hot spots of Paris, London, and elsewhere. To that end, Putumayo's Arabic Groove brings us up to date with their compilation, a jubilant sonic party rooted in ancient musical tradition and structure, steeped in ...
I was in a cafe in Hong Kong when I first heard this album. I was so struck, I had to stay and listen to the whole album right then and there. After hearing every track, I knew I needed my own copy. Two weeks later, I'm still listening to the enchanting rhythms and cool grooves that this album is ...
+ The best album yet in my eyes + A Monument of Music
Dead Can Dance is one of my favorite bands in the world, and this CD is one of the reasons why they are. Haunting, beautiful, and moving, they take me on a musical journey no matter where I am or what I am doing. Their magic is very rare, and it is something that only some musicians manage to ...
+ Nice blending of yoga and bellydance + Yoga with a difference
Yoga is relaxing and strengthening, while Pilates can shape your entire body very quickly. Bellydance is where your soul is free to express its creativity in a swirling of sounds and bodily expression. This is an internal and external workout to prepare you for such adventures.

+ Now this is what I want to hear in World Dance Music ! + World music never sounded so good.
I love world music. I have always loved listening to music that comes from other countries. I especially love it when traditional world music meets modern, western music like techno to fuse together into one sound. The results is a non-traditional form of dance music. I came across "Ground Zero" ...
Most of James Asher music is good, but this particular CD is very good. The melody is moving, twisting and turning, with high quality sounds. The fast pace tempo makes me look for more from James Asher.
Raks Zahra was made for oriental bellydancer Zahra Zuhair by her husband Michael Cox. This CD is really one of my favourites. Tracks 8 and 11 blend with samples of Rimsky Korsakov's Sheherazade and in my opinion are great for a modern belly-break choreography.
This book is an excellent resource. The notes about the music are great. The photos are beautiful. There are explanations of the origins of the dance, the culture, costuming, music, zills, and performing. Make sure you read this in a well-lit room, as the text is layered over the photos.
