Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter) 461 reviews Laurell K. Hamilton
Jove, 2007
The Start of a Great Series
+ Awesome read, Not What I expected
This is the start of a great series of books, however after the nineth book, OBSIDIAN BUTTERFLY, she does a John Norman on the series, completely changing the tone and quality, and the series goes down hill from there, rapidly.

They get better
+ Fun Read + First time reading this author
I really liked this book, because it combined the genres that I love; Fantasy, and mystery. The first book was good, but I found the dialogue a little cliche, however I have read the 2nd book and can tell you that they get better as you progress through the series. Definitely a must read for anyone ...

Something from the Nightside (Nightside, Book 1) 81 reviews Simon R. Green
Ace, 2003
Urban Noir meets dark fantasy
+ Amazing setting, floppy plot, dated female + Fast and fun, fans of Butcher should try this series out...
Since this is the eightieth review of this book I can surmise that you have probably looked at quite a few other reviews here on Amazon about this introduction to Simon Green's Nightside. A short synopsis of this tale is that London has a diabolical and devious twin that is always shrouded in ...

Bad-Ass Faeries 2 reviews CJ Henderson, Keith R.A. DeCandido, ...
Marietta Publishing, 2007
The Truth of the Fae...
+ Not your average Faerie stories
A very nice collection of Farie Short Stories; trully encompasing not just the Whimsy of Faries, but also the depth of emotion and adventure in what all too often is seen as only children's worlds... These certainly do not stop at that; they take you to where you never thought Faries could go, but ...

Murphy's Lore: Through the Drinking Glass 1 review Patrick Thomas
Padwolf Publishing,, 2002
Back at Bulfinche's!
Very fun fantasy. This is (I believe) the third book in the Murphy's Lore series and it is fast becoming a favorite of mine because of the good stories, great characters, and the awful puns. (Awful is actually good where puns are concerned.) I also recommend the first two books-Tales from ...

Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter, Book 1) 214 reviews Sherrilyn Kenyon
St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2002
Cute and a good begining
What I found with this series was this first book was cute but lacked some of the excitement of the later books. I think it's a good starting point for the series. I love how the other books build upon this first story. They only get better and better as you read on.

Tinker (Baen Fantasy) 56 reviews Wen Spencer
Baen, 2004
Tinker Is Good On Many Levels
+ Fun story set in very nifty new world
I finished reading Tinker relatively quickly for a non-romance. I guess I finished it in about 10 days but I also read a few books at the same time. I guess romantic books get read quicker because of the pull of the romantic relationship. Having said that, maybe that is why I finished this quickly. ...

Urban Shaman (The Walker Papers, Book 1) 84 reviews C.E. Murphy
Luna, 2005
Likable heroine and Celtic myth make for a pleasant read
+ Urban Shaman + Really Fun Series filled with Sarcasm
C.E. Murphy's heroine Joanne Walker (aka Shioban Walkingstick) brings to the Urban Shaman the one thing that is so important for a first person urban fantasy heroine and that is a good 'voice'. Joanne's inner dialog is entertainingly sacarstic and she is likable enough that you'll care what happens ...

The Lunatic Cafe (Anita Blake; Vampire Hunter: Book 4) 1 review
Jove, 2008
Go, Laurell! Anita rules...
SO MUCH FUN! I think that what makes Anita so interesting is that she NEVER gives up. Some would say that she really just needs to relax and have fun SOMETIMES instead of working every second, but that's what gives her a real conscience. I have read the first four books and am impressed. She makes ...
