Finale Songwriter 200716 reviews

Macintosh, Windows | eMedia, 2007

Excellent value
I'm a professional musician and I own other sequencing/recording software which literally costs ten times more. The main reason for this purchase was to have a fast and convenient way to record melodic ideas on my laptop while away from my home setup. This product is not without it's few minor glitches and limitations but at $49.95, it's an incredible value for pros and novices alike. I've ...

Apple Garageband Jam Pack: Remix Tools3 reviews

Mac OS X | Apple, 2006

Impressive array
With Garage Band's standard-issue synth patches and loops, it was hard to make new music without using the same sounds more than once. With these Jam Packs, I can get lost just finding loops to use - which is a really good thing! Definitely worth the money!

Cakewalk Music Creator 410 reviews

Windows | Cakewalk, 2007

Great Software - Low Price
Being into MIDI since 1983 and working with hardware sequencers and several sequenzer programs, like Yamaha XGWorks, WHC-Software(German)and Steinberg from the beginning to Cubase 4 right now, I am always looking for software that is affordable for my pupils. I knew CWMC2003 and first bought a version of CWMC4 for myself. I tested it for three months and it worked perfectly all the time. ...

Apple Garageband Jam Pack: Symphony Orchestra7 reviews

Mac OS X | Apple, 2006

A Great Addition
After taking the time to get serious with garage band, I quickly found the need to get more instument voices for my uses. I play the music into garage band (record) with a M-Audio 66ES keystation (which I highly recommend) and found that there just weren't enough instruments to meet my needs for all of the tracks that I like to record. This product more than meets those needs, as it has a ton ...

Acoustica Mixcraft 43 reviews

Windows | Acoustica

Excellent Software
Although I'm fairly inexperienced when it comes to recording (I've only been using Audacity and Sony Acid Xpress for about 2 years), this software seems like an incredible deal for the price. I've used it a bit since I purchased it a few weeks ago and I am very impressed. Definitely worth you money.

ACID Music Studio 715 reviews

Windows | Sony Creative Software, 2008

Works with VISTA (32-bit) if...
I use it for recording guitar. It works perfectly with my desktop computer (multi-tracking with no latency [all tracks syncing together with the beat]). My machine is 2.3 mz processor w/ 3 gig ram. HOWEVER, with my laptop i spent 3 weeks trying to get it work and could not (1.5 mz w/1.5 ram). Even with adjusting the latency as instructed, it did very little to help; thus your computer must be ...

Apple Garageband Jam Pack: Rhythm Section4 reviews

Mac OS X | Apple, 2006

Great Product!
My school's computers have this GarageBand Jam Pack, and may I say, it's great! The drums, the bass, the guitar; everything is superb. You make your own songs. You make your album. You become the rock star. Not in a million years would I, Me, be able to make this kind of music without it. Go buy one, and make Amazon.com happy.

Apple iLife '08 [OLD VERSION]106 reviews

Mac OS X, Macintosh | Apple, 2007

Good, but better to wait for iLife '09
Hold your money until the new version of iLife comes out and purchase that. I bought version '08 thinking it might be a year before the next version is on the market and now,a couple months later, I must spend more money to have the newest iLife that is due to be released soon.

Band in a Box 200715 reviews

Windows | PG Music Inc., 2006

A Jazz Player
Simply put, this is a kickass product. I dig the "big piano" which helps with left hand / right hand position. Since I purchased this item, my playing has improved 10-fold over the last 3-months. Now I realize I went too long playing solo. A backing band is what I needed and now it's what I got when I come home from the old day job and plunk the ebony and ivories.

Apple Garageband Jam Pack: World Music3 reviews

Mac OS X | Apple, 2006

The best of the Jam Packs
I've bought three of the packs before and I just bought this one. At first I wasn't sure what it could really do for my sound, but it is absolutely amazing. The African choir will shock you, it sounds so good. The new instrument sounds will give your music a broader, more worldly sound. It's worth the buy even if you just want to pay around with it. It's the best one that I've bought yet.

Apple Logic Express 8 Upgrade2 reviews

Macintosh, PowerMac, Mac OS X | Apple, 2007

Excellent music composition software
I do only amateur MIDI-based music composition, no audio recording. Thus I can't comment on the latter. For the former, however, Logic Express offers all the tools I need to edit MIDI-events, and access to the tools will feel natural to anyone already comfortable with the Mac-way of doing things. Garageband's capabilities as a MIDI-event editor are rudimentary, where as Logic Express's ...

GarageBand Jam Pack (iLife '04 Add-on)2 reviews

Macintosh | Apple, 2004

Splendid add on for a splendid program
What can you do with GarageBand? Better question: What can't you do? GarageBand is the answer to the amateur and not-so-amateur musician's prayers. Not only is it the easiest mulitrack recorder I've ever used (and I've used a bunch), it is the best drum machine out there--bar none. That is, provided you have enough drum loops to get you started. And that is reason enough to buy the Jam ...
