I have a niche with a little can light in it and the spot light gets so hot the can has a circuit in it to prevent overheating that trips and it turns off. I was concerned about fire but also concerned about the environment... see... I am a tree hugger. This is a 200 lumen light, which is slightly less light than you'd get from a typical 25 watt incandescent bulb. Keep this firmly in mind if you're looking for decent room lighting. PAR 38, in case you're wondering, means "parabolic aluminized reflector" 38 eighths inches or 4.75 inches in diameter.

Replaced a standard 7 watt bulb I was using as a night light for my shower. The CC blub is a very bright "White" light (like a fluorescent)that is definitely brighter that the standard incadescent. For a small bulb, I am definitely impressed.

Could be brighter
For a spot light, this could be brighter. For my needs it works fine. would I get another one? Only if it's for close quarters. I do not recommend this if you need to spot a large area. For brightness, I've give it a medium in brightness. about equal to a 40 watt bulb in lumens in my opinion.

WAY over priced and not very reliable
I have had a dozen of these (paid much less somewhere else about 5 months ago) and only 4 are still working. They do not even come CLOSE to matching their description. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!! They claim they will be good for reading, but they are not. They are good for accent lighting when they work.
