Dr. Jean Feldman, Jean Feldman

Teaching Resources, 2002

Great Resource
I love this book (I bought the whole series). My class enjoys listening to and singing along with the CD. I make a class sized book by enlarging the pictures and putting the book together in a binder. We practice every day with the CD. Then on Friday, I give each child their own child-sized book and we practice with the CD. Then I send the book home with the children. I've gotten so much ...

The 100+ Series Mixed Skills in Math, Grades 7-8: Keeping Students Sharp With Daily Practice and Review3 reviews
Marge Kindskog

Instructional Fair, 1999

An Excellent Source of Math Problems
The nice thing about this review book is that the skills really are mixed. I have used all of the books in this series when tutoring students in math. The constant repetition of basic skills helps to reinforce them in the minds of the students, even as they progress to more advanced ideas. One caution. This book does not explain how to do the problems. There are no examples. It is simply a ...

Room with a View1 review

Ravensburger

Ravensburger, 2006

Great Puzzle!
My husband has Parkinsonism and he likes to put together puzzles to keep his mind sharp and active. He likes the puzzles that are 300 pieces and are larger pieces. They are easier for him to handle and to see when putting the puzzle together. This puzzle was more "grown-up" than most scenes of kittens, etc. Nicer for an adult.

Foodie Fight: A Trivia Game with Gameboard and Cards6 reviews
Joyce Lock

Chronicle Books, 2007

Foodie Fight Wins Hands Down
I recently attend a weekend cooking school where we played both Foodie Fight and the Trival Pursuit Game dedicated to food. Foodie Fight was much more fun, more interesting questions, better catagories and just the right difficulty. The school was attended by "foodies" and some new to cooking and all enjoyed the game. It's a winner!

LeapFrog® Shapes with Ella1 review

LeapFrog

LeapFrog, 2007

Not so great.
The elephant sounds like he has a stuffed up nose and he sounds kind of stupid. Not sure I want my baby to be learning from this type of speech. The volume is also really loud. Too loud for little ears. The spinning action is easy to manage so that is a good tool for little ones. Maybe the lion sounds more intelligent? I wish it were made out of a nicer fabric. It's not as cute as it looks ...

Scholastic Teaching Resources (Teaching, 2002

A Must Have!
I teach 5th grade and use this all the time. The pages easily work with any genre you are teaching, whether it is biography, fiction, nonfiction, whatever. Another thing I like is the fact that there are some pages that integrate grammar into whatever story you are reading (like searching for verbs in the story.) This book is one that I use constantly.

Slot machine bank
I gave this gift to someone who likees to occasionally go to Las Vegas to play the slot machines. She loved the bank! It was a lot of fun to have everyone take a turn spinning it. Everyone liked the way it looked so realistic. The bell and light going off when you were a winner was also a plus.
