Uncle Milton Moon in My Room33 reviews

Uncle Milton

Uncle Milton

Fantastic!!
The moon itself is truly fantastic. It is realistic looking as well as functions quite well. We purchased the moon for our son for his 6th birthday, upon opening and installing it, the remote didn't quite have the range that it stated in the advertisement. I called the company and they shipped me a new remote - which works beautifully. My son loves the moon and uses it every night. A perfect ...

Solar Energy1 review

Poof Slinky

Poof Slinky, 2006

Excellent for hands-on discussions of solar energy!
I completed the projects in this book with the assistance of a 4 year old and a nearly 10 year old. This would be an excellent weekend project or home schooler project. It could be easily adapted for use in school - with maybe 1 set per 2-4 children. In our case, it was a weekend project. In the box are instructions for nearly 20 different projects (although many are redundant - e.g. do it ...

3-D Solar System38 reviews

University Games

University Games, 2001

Awesome planet set!
These planets are sized to scale and accurately colorful. They come with brief great info on each planet, and tell you their relative distance from the sun if you want to hang them as a realistic representation of the solar system. They don't come with a sun, although if it would be in keeping with the other accurate sizing of the planets enclosed, it would require a much larger box, ha.

LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game System - Pink117 reviews

leapfrog leaning game system
This toy is so much fun, I think the time a child spends on it should be limited or he/she will not want to do anything else!

LeapFrog® Leapster L-Max® Game: Letters on the Loose29 reviews

LeapFrog

LeapFrog, 2005

Excellent Game (+ Work-Around for Younger Child)
This is one of my son's favorite Leapster cartridges. One "trick" that he discovered is that one can play the games for different letters without having to trace/write any of them. As other reviewers have correctly pointed out the tracing can be too demanding and frustrating, especially for the younger children. This is my son's work-around: After playing the "A" game, press the "Home" button on ...

My 8 year old daughter loved this!!!
It was very easy to paint. The planets are in two pieces so they sit nicely on the table while you are painting. There is plenty of paint. The planets are labeled on the inside, so you can make sure you are painting the right one the right color & so you put them together right. It was easy to put together and hang. It comes with glow & the dark paint, so at night it glows in my daughters room. ...

LeapFrog® Leapster® Learning Game System - Green699 reviews

LeapFrog

LeapFrog, 2006

Leapster Family
When my daughter was four, my husband brought her home a Leapster for Christmas. It's the older, larger Leapster. She absolutely LOVED it. Then her younger brother kept borrowing, so we decided to buy him his own when HE turned four. Hubby came home with the L-Max for him. I have to be honest and say that we've never even once plugged it into the tv. He doesn't know it has that feature and ...

Radiometer2 reviews

Tedco

Tedco, 2006

Well Constructed, Good Price
At the time I purchased this version of the Radiometer, the Amazon price was $10.95, with free Super-Saver shipping available. I have seen the identical model retailing in science gift shops and catalogs for $12.95 to $15.95, so I was quite happy with the Amazon price. The device is sturdily constructed, for what it is. Keep in mind, this is a thin glass bulb similar to a light bulb; it will ...

Pretend and Play Calculator Cash Register46 reviews

Learning Resources

Learning Resources, 2006

Excellent toy
Purchased for my 2 1/2 yr old daughter - best $35 I ever spent! She plays "store" all day long with it. Only design flaw is that the cash drawer shoots out at a mile a minute, spilling the change. But she's learned to hold it with her hand and all's well. Highly recommended.

Melissa and Doug

Melissa and Doug, 2006

Lost In Space
I recently bought Melissa and Doug's 48 pc. Solar System floor puzzle for a 6 year old that I have nannied since birth. He is a very bright, sharp, young man who loves the challenge of putting things together. Since I know of his deep interest in the solar system over the past year and his love of puzzles, this was indeed I thought the "perfect" gift for him. It proved to be just that. ...

Uncle Milton Light-Up Solar System Motorized Mobile9 reviews

Uncle Milton

Uncle Milton

Great find!
My son received this for Christmas and it really is awesome. The planets are proportionately sized and in order from the Sun out. The 15 minute video that accompanies the mobile is also great, very educational without too much extra information. My son has learned a lot and at 5 can tell you some fact about each planet, their sizes from smallest to largest and in what order they fall from the ...

Solar System Mobile Kit2 reviews

Beautiful NASA Images
No children... bought this mobile for my office, I'm setting my sights on the final frontier. A better mobile might exist, but I never found it. The mobile consists of cardstock photos from NASA; I would not say it is durable, but it hangs from the ceiling so that should not be a deterent... as children should probably not be hanging from the ceiling anyway. It's easy to put together if you ...

Celestron NexImage Solar System Imager14 reviews

Celestron

Celestron

Excellent tool, but with a learning curve
I purchased this camera from Amazon and have had a few weeks to test it out. Overall, I've found it to be an excellent tool for lunar and planetary imaging. It is easy to get started using, but to get really good images, you'll need to spend some time and you'll need to be technically adept. A few points are worth noting for newbies. All astro cameras in this price range are essentially ...

Planet Heroes - Mars (Digger with Rover)1 review

Fisher-Price

Fisher-Price, 2008

Digger Rocks!
The Planet Heroes line is fantastic for imaginative play, for critical thinking, and for light-hearted education / planet recognition. My three year old nephew loves the characters of the series, especially now that he has seen the DVD show about the team. Digger from Mars is great fun. He and his riding rover are kid friendly and easy to manipulate for small hands. Our product came with a little ...

Solar System Planetarium1 review

Toysmith

Toysmith, 2006

Perfect model
This solar system model was almost perfect for our needs. My 3rd grader had to build a solar system model for school. My work schedule that week would have left us without enough time to complete the project using the "household items" instructions sent home to build it. This model was easy and fun for my daughter to put together with her dad and brother's help one weekend while I worked. The ...

Thames & Kosmos Fuel Cell Car and Experiment Kit4 reviews

Thames & Kosmos

Thames & Kosmos, 2008

Fascinating Solar Energy And Fuel Cell Experiments
This kit teaches about solar energy, photo-voltaic electrolysis and fuel cells. A 100-page manual explains electrical concepts, shows how to use a digital multimeter to measure voltage and current, and guides through 30 experiments from simple measurements to pretty involved computations. I bought the kit for my 12-year-old son. I read the manual in advance and then guided him through it all. We ...

Learning Resources Inflatable Solar System Set6 reviews

Learning Resources

Learning Resources, 2006

Solar System fun
We bought this for my 5 year old son because he loves the planets and had seen a set at a cousin's birthday party. The birthday party set was from another company that makes party favors etc. When I saw this one at Amazon for such a good price, I grabbed it. It was of a much better quality material than the one from the party favor store and came with the materials needed to hang the planets. ...

Kinda tricky for a four year old, but still loves the colors !!
I was a little worried that this puzzle was a going to be to advanced for a four year old but once Momma and Jack got the boarder finished, they were on a roll. Great puzzle, beautiful colors !!
