The Legend of Billie Jean [VHS]35 reviews
Helen Slater, Keith Gordon

Fair is calling this movie great!
I just watched this movie again for the 100th time and continue to think its one of the best movies of the 80's. It really captures the feeling of life in the 80's and what it feels like to be a smart teenager who gets treated unfairly. The soundtrack is also awesome- Billy Idol, Wendy O. Williams and Pat Benetar. I read that Benetar loves to rip this movie up in concert before singing the theme. ...

Sticky Fingers [VHS]3 reviews
Helen Slater, Melainie Mayron

Media Home Video, 1990

This movie is Great.
I'll bet not many people have seen this flick and I just happened to catch it on cable at like three in the morning. But it's hilarious. The two main characters have terrific chemistry and you'll love them....If you ever get a chance to watch SF, do yourself a favor and check it out.

Long Way Home [VHS]18 reviews
Morgan Freeman, Edward Asner

Thomson Productions, 1998

Clear and thorough
This Academy Award winning documentary traces the events between the end of the war in Europe, in spring of 1945, to the declaration of Israel's statehood in May 1948, revealing the continuing harrowing experiences of the concentration camp survivors, who had neither homes nor families to which they could return and were prevented from going to the land of Israel. The excellent narration by ...

City Slickers [VHS]45 reviews
Billy Crystal, Jack Palance

Columbia Pictures, 1992

The Greatest "Guy" Movie Ever (Yet, With Feeling)
As old as the "Men are from Mars, Women are from Jupiter" ponderings is the difference between "guy" films and "chick flicks". Though not trying to stereotype the genders too much here, the camp of movie-goers that will watch "The Notebook" or "A Walk To Remember" have different hormones flowing through them as those that go to "Terminator Salvation" or "Rambo IV". There's just a fundamental ...

Interview With the Vampire [VHS]435 reviews
Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt

Warner Home Video, 1997

scary , hilarious , thrilling , empty as a joel olsteen seminar
revisting this highly campy , homoerotic , wickedly decadent , lusciously lensed film revealed its' status as the funniest film of 1994 . it's a lot of dated fun with many belly laughs in the miraculously theatrical performances of all involved . we all have DAVID GEFFEN to thank for championing this expertly directed (by NEIL JORDAN) film . the hilarious script is only amplified by copious use ...

The Secret of My Success [VHS]59 reviews
Michael J. Fox, Helen Slater

Universal Studios, 1992

A Comedy With A Conscience!
The Secret Of My Success shows what someone with a backbone could accomplish under the most difficult of circumstances. What the Mathew J. Fox character tries to prevent in the film actually happened in real life to my father's multi-billion dollar corporation back in the 1980's! As a result, he, and tens of thousands of other people lost their jobs! Too bad they didn't have someone like the ...

Happy Together [VHS]5 reviews
Patrick Dempsey, Helen Slater

Live / Artisan, 1994

Very Underated
I know this is hard to believe, but this is one of my top ten video's of all time. As a theatre major I can really relate to the 'I can be loved by you' acting excercise that becomes a recurring theme. While the 'girl with boys name who acidentally winds up in the boys dorm' genre is usually pretty fluffy, in this case it works, going beyond laughs to a more serious and vulnerable (yet still ...

12:01 [VHS]53 reviews
Jonathan Silverman, Helen Slater

Sony Pictures, 1995

One to watch, time and again
Having watched 12:01 several times I have always found it a very enjoyable movie. Martin Landau and Helen Slater being cast helped it along as well. There's comedy, suspense, and a little non thinking mans scifi which makes for an excellent movie.

A House in the Hills [VHS]4 reviews
Michael Madsen, Helen Slater

Warner Home Video, 1993

It is sensual and hot
this is a great story line. First you think Michael Madsen is a murder and a bad guy. Then you end up liking him. He is, - what can I say......? A HE-MAN! He is masculin and he is charming. Helen Slater is a very good actress. Probably one of the best. I would like to recommend this film to all women and perhaps to a few men!?

Parallel Lives (1994) [VHS]2 reviews
James Belushi, Liza Minnelli

Paramount, 1963

Highly entertaining comedy-drama
I love stuff like this, quirky Altman-esque comedy-dramas with huge casts, and this did not disappoint. For a film that was almost entirely improvised, "Parallel Lives" chugs along quite smoothly. Standouts in the cast are Liza Minnelli (who deserved an Emmy nomination), Lindsay Crouse, Dudley Moore and Ally Sheedy.

Supergirl (Clam) [VHS]44 reviews
Helen Slater, Faye Dunaway

Uni Distribution

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Supergirl!
"Supergirl" thrilled me when it opened back in 1984. Along with Wonder Woman and She-Ra, Supergirl was part of an era of female superheroines. "Supergirl" is a true camp classic. It marked Helen Slater's debut (and subsequent departure) from the silver screen. Faye Dunaway could've shouted,"No more kryptonite wire hangers!" but she's close enough. "Supergirl",along with "Puma Man",is one of the ...
