Urban Cowboy [VHS]
Best Travolta movie ever.
So many people haven't seen this movie. Fan of Travolta or not, this movie is great. I've probably seen in 100 times since I was little.
The birth of Kool
ok I bought this on DVD and I had once seen it as a small child and loved it. OK here is the truth the movie made 100% no sense. But it had really cool effects and kept me entertained. Sadly the female lead Maria Penchukas died a couple of years ago but this is more than an awesome so-called "B-film" it is a cult classic. Trust me if you are having second thoughs about buying it, you will be ...
Tall Tale: Unbelievable Adventure [VHS]
Walt Disney Video, 1996
We read tall tales in English class and the students enjoy watching this movie afterward.
Wild Geese 2 [VHS]
MGM (Video & DVD), 1998
Not as bad as some would have you believe - DVD please
Written by the same author and oiginally intended to star Richard Burton, this 1985 follow-up to the classoc 1978 original was(somewhat) unfairly mauled by critics upon its release. It shared the same fate of another favorite of mine (Force 10 From Navarone) in utilizing a well-known and beloved movie title with a very different plot line. Although I enjoy the original that starred Burton ...
Naked City:Justice With a Bullet [VHS]
Courtney B. Vance
Paramount Home Video, 1999
Gaiam, Inc., 1998
Some reviewers here seem far too critical. Our family accidentally chanced on a TV rendition of the move, and it was a lot of fun. Sure, it's not accurate historically and the plot is somewhat predictable (lots of movies out there are, including some classics), but acting, setting, mood, and story are well done, making this a good light-hearted evening watch.
The Keep [VHS]
PUT IT OUT ON DVD
It's about time this movie comes out on DVD. We have been waiting far to long for this movie to come out on DVD.
Man on Fire [VHS]
Please... please... bring this out on DVD
I have no idea why this did not make a bigger splash. Most of the main characters in this movie have gone on to have awesome careers. Maybe they should have played it as an art house movie! ThÝs interpretation of Quinnel's novel is much slower paced and thoughtful (if a violent, revengeful, crime type film can go there)than the current production. More importantly to me, after reading the ...
Shadowhunter ( aka "Shadow Hunter") [VHS]
Republic Pictures, 1996
I FOR ONE THOUGHT THIS WAS A GREAT MOVIE. BEEN TRYING TO FIND IT AGAIN FOR YEARS. IT WAS VERY WELL DONE, AND ONLY A LITTLE BIT FANTASY. I HAVE READ EXTENSIVLY ON THE NATIVES OF THE 4 CORNERS REGION AND THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. SORRY IF THERE WAS ANY DIS-RESPECT. I'M SURE THERE WAS NONE INTENDED
My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys [VHS]
Starz / Anchor Bay, 1997
A lost classic!
I lived in Midwest City Oklahoma when this movie was bein' Made. I loved the movie from the start. It was true and down to earth. This movie inspired me to ride bulls myself and represent Rodeo all the time. I am sad to see that this movie is not only hard to find, but also not available in a DVD form like other classic movies. This makes no sense to me. I would like to see it done better ...
Slaughter of Innocents [VHS]
Jan Broberg Felt
Universal Studios, 1998
A chilling thriller
This movie is a classic. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. Scott Glenn is superb as the detective and his character son, 11 year old Jessie, is impressive. This story can be non fictional. There's a lot of demented people out there today. This maniac that they are pursuing is so twisted. He is a monster. The things he does is horrifying. And the ending is a shocker. This film is ...
Hunt for Red October [VHS]
A Great Film based on a Great Book
Tom Clancy is well-known for filling his techno-thrillers with vivid and accurate details, but I don't think any of his stories had as gripping a plot as THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER By TOM CLANCY 1984. I was a submariner when the book was released and, more than any book written during my life, I literally could not put it down. Amazing to us sailors, Clancy had the details just right, but it ...
Ride With the Devil (1999) [VHS]
Universal Studios, 2001
Darn good film!
Darn good film!! I've written two screenplays inside this historical universe so I've done a ton of research into this time period and specifically Quantrill's Raiders. This film does a great job of depicting the confusion of the era and the impulse driven events of the bushwackers. I do very much wish Ang Lee would have shown the Kansas City 3 story jailhouse being pulled down with the ...
Apocalypse Now [VHS]
Apocalpse Now-Original Version
I too am an avid fan of this realistic, engrossing film. However, the producers of Redux did the movie a disservice. The intensity, rawness, grittiness have all been removed. The original version engaged me emotionally and psychologically, in contrast Redux leaves me frustrated and unsatisfied in comparison. I have a copy of Redux, watched twice if anyone wants it for $5.00 plus whatever shipping ...

Congress Entertainme, 1989
As Summers Die
Forbidden passion and burning prejudice ignite in the heat of the deep south. Emotions are riding high in a small southern town. Buffalo Soldiers (2001) [VHS]
Walt Disney Video, 2003
A dark look at US Army life in Germany in the late 1980's
Buffalo Soldiers is the story of US Army supply clerk Ray Elwood, played by the handsome and mysterious Joaquin Phoenix. Elwood is one of those go-to-guys who can score anything you need in exchange for the right favor. He has his hands all over the supply chain, drives a sweet German sports car, and knows who to cook up a batch of heroin in spare warehouses. He's a stoic who is well-respected ...

Carla's Song [VHS]
Fox Lorber, 1999
I WORKED FOR ACCION PERMANENTE CRISTIANA POR LA PAZ IN 1987: SAME AS THIS FILM AND IT IS REAL
Coincidentally I worked in Nicaragua during the time and setting of this film and it is too real. I also knew Anita Setright who plays herself on our old front porch, although nearly ten years later as the film was made in 1996 or so. She still smiles benevolently in this movie. Seeing the contra attacks and their effects, the vehicles, and the walls and murals are very real to me. Too real. ...
The Empty Mirror [VHS]
Universal Studios, 2000
The Empty Mirror is Full of Thought and Artistic Vision
A truly brillant treatment of the subject. Goes deep into the Philosophy and motives of Facism and Nazi Racism. All Words are Hilter's own (!) taken from various sources and acted superbly by Norman Rodway. This makes the film so interesting. Freud and Hitler spar in a interesting postmodern dialogue. Hope it is on DVD soon!
