To the person who wrote the first review...this was in no way a sleazy movie. It was a true depiction of a diabolical self-centered sociopath who killed his wife for greed, and the horrific fall-out. By the way, this movie also was made with the main character's oldest son on the set as an advisor. Learn your facts. If you don't like true crime stories, don't waste your money the next time!

Very much better than I remembered
I remember watching this film as child back in the UK. Watching this DVD, I realised I had forgoten much of the detail of the plot, and the efforts by the Germans to validate the identity of the body. Great story, well acted and played with typical british understatement and the ending was very moving. Not a War movie in the traditional sense and very engrossing. I now have to read the book.

Another great Hoppy film.
First the cast list is incorrect. It stars William Boyd and Russell Hayden, not Edgar Buchanan. It is a great film with more screen time for "Lucky". Russ Hayden did his own stunts and as well as being a fantastic horseman, he also drove the six-up coach. The race betweem the two stagecoaches is as exciting as some of the car races in movies of this time. It is one of my favorite "Hoppy" ...

Fan-dang-tastic! My favorite Hoppy flick!
I have NEVER been truly disappointed by ANY of Boyd's Hoppy outings, and this is my very favorite of all the great Sherman/Boyd productions. Hoppy goes undercover as a wimpy, sappy eastern dude to (what else?) infiltrate an outlaw gang that's after a young girls' ranch. (sound familiar?) The situation gives Boyd a chance to really ham it up and its a wonder to watch. Throw in Andy Clyde ...
