Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home [VHS]229 reviews
Vijay Amritraj, Michael Berryman

Paramount, 1992

There Be Whales Here!
Star Trek IV takes a bit of the last film and a bit from the first one. We have alien invasion, an environmental message about the destruction of whales as a species and Man as well. We learn a lot more about Spock (as he becomes re-educated after his ordeal on the Genesis planet, last film) and time travel! Lots of fun lines in this one. Only whales can communicate with a probe that sucks ...

Voyage in Italy [VHS]1 review
Ingrid Bergman, George Sanders

Connoisseur Video, 1992

Not worth watching
The movie is very slow moving. It seems to wander, rather than progressing toward a conclusion. The only "progress" in the movie is in the last 2 minutes, and the conclusion wasn't at all satisfactory to me.

Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown, and don't come back! [VHS]29 reviews
Daniel Anderson, Annalisa Bartolin

Paramount Pictures, 1996

I concur: absolutely the BEST Peanuts movie
I eagerly await the release of this Peanuts masterpiece on DVD. It's charming, and hilarious without being mean or cheap--an achievement that is so rare even in family entertainment these days--and I say this as a cynical 30-something. This movie has it all: comedy, romance, mystery, drama, action, AND a sweet soundtrack. Seriously! I used to watch this movie all the time (after we recorded ...

Voyage of the Damned [VHS]10 reviews
Faye Dunaway, Oskar Werner

Avid Home Ent, 1998

True Horror in False Hope
Aside from the fact that these events (or perhaps events just like them but more horrible ) took place, this film could not be more compelling. It is filled with first rate performances (some only in cameo, but all of them fully drawn and realized). This is perhaps among the best ensemble film work done by Lee Grant, Faye Dunnaway, Julie Harris, and a host of others. Tension builds with ...

Voyages [VHS]1 review
Shulamit Adar, Liliane Rovère

New Yorker Films Video, 2005

Voyages
In my opinion, one of the most thoughtful and interesting depictions of the holocaust to come out in the last 20 years. I've thought about this film since I saw it at a Jewish film festival in Minneapolis and decided I needed to own a copy so I could see it again and again. Set in Paris, Poland and Israel, the film evokes both the intellect and strong emotions. A wonderful film.

Golden Voyage of Sinbad [VHS]36 reviews
John Phillip Law, Caroline Munro

Sony Pictures, 1994

Animation, untamed emotion and untiring action everywhere!
This film counts with the extraordinary support of "Dynamation" special effects' Ray Harryhausen. A ship's figurehead comes to life, the sword-duel with the skeleton, the amazi9ng fight between the dragon and the unicorn plus the fact the genius of the lamp makes of this film a must-see for all the family. A must have familiar entertainment!

Long Voyage Home [VHS]19 reviews
John Wayne, Thomas Mitchell

Warner Home Video, 1992

One of many Ford films that is severely underrated...
This is one of Ford's most underrated films, a beautiful, poetic, sad, and haunting depiction of men at sea, and the terrors and tribulations that they endure. It is based on several one act Eugene O'Neill plays, and Mr. O'Neill absolutely adored this film. He loved the way Ford and Dudley Nichols transcribed his plays into something beautifully cinematic. The cinematography is some of the ...

Seventh Voyage of Sinbad [VHS]88 reviews
Kerwin Mathews, Kathryn Grant

Sony Pictures, 1994

7th Voyage of Sinbad
This is a superb video, even though it may appear a bit grainy in places due the the enhancement of a special effects process in its color infancy, but the entire film has a crispness, more balanced colors and far richer sound quality than the first DVD release. I got the same thrill I had as a child watching it in the movie theater. The additional features are excellent too: the commentary ...

Voyage Round My Father, A [VHS]1 review
Laurence Olivier, Alan Bates

Hbo Home Video, 1997

"A Voyage Round My Father", A Voyage You Must Experience.
I bought this film purely out of the blue, I was just looking at different films starring Laurence Olivier, and I'm sure glad I did, I discovered this little gem of a film which was shockingly terrific, for a TV movie. Sir Laurence Olivier plays Clifford Mortimer a blind, cantankerous English Barrister who enjoys arguing and preening his garden. Alan Bates plays John Mortimer a loving, and ...

Korean War Stories [VHS]8 reviews

PBS (Direct), 2001

Great DVD
This was a gift for a Korean War Vet. I was told by him that this was one of the best telling of the stories of " The Forgotten War"

The Sinbad Collection (7th Voyage / Golden Voyage / Eye of the Tiger) [VHS]30 reviews
Patrick Wayne, Jane Seymour

Sony Pictures, 1995

Fun movies: Can enjoy watching them over and over again!
I first watched the Sinbad movies as a young child. All these years later I still love every one of them. They are fun, family friendly, entertaining, nostalgic, and just plain cool. I should have purchased this a long time ago. The claymation is so neat. I'll never get tired of that concept. In my opinion, these movies are so much better than movies of today. Watch these once and you will see ...

Excellent film
This movie is a very intense and emotional film. Omar Epps is great in this movie. It is based on a true story.

Voyage En Douce [VHS]1 review
Dominique Sanda, Geraldine Chaplin

New Yorker Video, 1998

Borrrring!
Perhaps I'm missing something. But the story line was very slow and nothing much really happened. It was neither compelling, insightful, funny, and not even erotic, albeit it seems to be headed in that direction occassionally but never gets there. The ending was cute, but that pretty much sums it up.

Fantastic Voyage [VHS]48 reviews
Stephen Boyd, Raquel Welch

20th Century Fox, 1997

Excellent Old Science Fiction
Back when this came out, it was considered a 'really cool' movie. With movies computerized these days, I can't help but wonder what they will be like ten (10) years from now!!

Voyage of the Rock Aliens [VHS]3 reviews
Pia Zadora, Craig Sheffer

The crown jewel of my collection!
So, This movie is really serious. I spent an entire afternoon combing the island of Manhatten looking for aplace that carried used VHS cassettes. After a rather fruiless search I stumbled upon a Porn Shop on the corner of About 26th and 6th. They had a stack of VHS tapes along the bottom edge of the store that I decided to look through. After looking at the rediculous cover of this tape, I ...

Invitation Au Voyage [VHS]1 review
Laurent Malet, Aurore Clément

intriguing psychological drama
This is a great story told in a series of flashbacks. A fantastic foreign film where we meet many intriguing characters who would make Kramer from Seinfeld look tame.

Voyage to the Outer Planets & Beyond [VHS]3 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Allied Artists Entertainment, 1996

Voyage to the outer planets and beyond
A FIVE STAR PROGRAM. And the new NASA extras are great for teaching my classes. The program was first released on VHS,(I bought it then)and now the new DVD has additional footage that most people have never seen. My science lessons are made easier when we discuss the planets. I can show the children each section, planet by planet. Also, the music fits, and the descriptions written out on the ...
